Jere Adcock
Jere Adcock graduated from Handley High School. Adcock earned a business degree from Auburn University, but knew all along he wanted to be a coach. While in college he drove 45 miles each day to serve as a volunteer assistant at his alma mater in Roanoke.
After graduating from Auburn he was an assistant at Handley for six years. Adcock moved to McIntosh in the Atlanta area in 1988 and to Smiths Station in 1992 for two seasons. Adcock became an assistant football coach at Decatur in 1994.
Two years later he was named the head football coach at Decatur High School. As the fifth head coach in the Red Raiders history Adcock replaced Steve Rivers, who left to take over the football program at Athens.
His overall record at Decatur was 187-120 in 27 seasons. His Red Raider teams have won seven region titles and made the playoffs in every season he was the head coach except six. The 1999 team finished the regular season 10-0 before losing in the second round of the playoffs.
Coach Adcock retired from the sidelines following the 2022 football season.
