 Jim Hubbert 

Jim Hubbert graduated from Oxford high school and Jacksonville State. He got his first coaching positions as an assistant football coach at Oxford, Oneonta and Bibb County. In 1984 He landed the head coaching job at Class 1A Maplesville.

Hubbert immediately turned the Red Devils into winner with a 10-4 record that initial season. The 10 wins were the most at the school since 1956.

The Red Devils also made the playoffs in 1984, their first in school history, and the next two seasons that coach Hubbert was at Maplesville. In 1987 he moved over to Lanett where he remained for three seasons and compiled a 27-8 record with two region titles and two semi-final playoff appearances.

In 1990 he would return to Maplesville for the next eleven seasons. Each year Maplesville would make the playoffs and won a State Championship in 1996 with a perfect 15-0 record and a 45-6 win over Lynn in the championship game at Legion Field in Birmingham. This team also set the state record by scoring 719 points in a season.

Hubberts record at Maplesville was 144-43. Hubbert took over the head coaching duties at Tuscaloosa Academy in 2001 but would suddenly resign midway through the season with a 1-5 record. His overall coaching record stands at 172-56 in 17 seasons.

He served a term as president of the Alabama High School Athletic Directors & Coaches Association. Hubbert also coached in both the Alabama-Mississippi and North-South All-Star football games. Hubbert was inducted into the Alabama High School Athletic Association Hall of Fame in 2006.
