Michael Shortt
Michael Shortt is a 1980 graduate of Cleburne County High School. He received his degree from Jacksonville State University.
Shortt accepted the head football coaching job at Cleburne County High School in Heflin, Alabama in 1998 to begin his head coaching career. Over the next 21 years his teams have gone 144-95 and 95-42 in region play. Fourteen of his teams have qualified for the playoffs.
The Tigers finished the 2000 and 2003 seasons undefeated in the regular season. The 2001 squad reached the Super Six Championship game before losing to Class 4A power UMS-Wright 28-12 at Legion Field in Birmingham.
From 2000-02 his teams went 37-4, the best run in school history.

Great Moments in Alabama High School Football History
Morris Higginbotham coached three different teams to divisional state championships in the 1950s. He won titles at Walnut Grove in 1952, West Blocton in 1955 and Enterprise in 1960.
