 Mike Sasser 

Mike Sasser was a star football player at T.R. Miller High School in Brewton, Alabama. He was named to the 1964 All-State team by every source that season. He played quarterback and as a defensive back for the Tigers. Sasser played in the Alabama North-South All-Star Game in Tuscaloosa following his senior season.

Following his high school career, Sasser played football at the University of Alabama where he was a defensive back on the 1966-69 teams for the Crimson Tide.

His first head coaching job came at Brantley in 1974. Sasser remained there for the next five season where four of his teams advanced to the state playoffs. The Bulldogs, under the direction of Coach Sasser went 51-8-1 during his tenure.

Sasser accepted the head football coaching job at Florala for one season in 1979 and finished with a 9-3 record before jumping to Monroe County in 1980.

When his alma mater came calling in 1981, Sasser came home to take over the T.R. Miller football program. Coach Sasser replaced Frank Cotton at Miller as the head football coach and athletic director. Over the next six seasons his teams went 49-22, winning two area crowns and making three playoff appearances.

His 1984 Tigers won the Class 4A State Championship with a 20-18 victory over Cherokee County High School.

Sassers overall record is 110-42-1 in 13 seasons as a head football coach. His playoff record stands at 18-7 and his teams won seven area and region titles. Sasser was a member of the coaching staff for the 1984 Alabama All-Star game in Tuscaloosa.
