 Paul Parvin

Paul Parvin earned All-State honors as a center during his playing days at Lee High School in Huntsville. The Birmingham News named him to the first team All-State team in 1970.

Parvin played football at North Alabama and was a letterman (1971-74).

Parvin became head coach at J.O. Johnson High School in Huntsville in 1981. His 1984 team finished second in the state and the next year the Jaguars traveled to Cincinnati and defeated then nationally top-ranked Moeller.

That 1985 Johnson team was ranked second in the nation at one point during the season before losing in the playoffs.

His record at Johnson is 70-22 in eight seasons. All but one of his teams qualified for the playoffs and won their area title during his tenure at the school.

In 1989, Parvin moved to Grissom High School. He did not enjoy the same success he had at Johnson. Only one of his ten teams finished with a winning record and only three made the playoffs. Overall Parvin went 33-69 during his tenure at Grissom.

Parvin, who has coached for 24 years in the Huntsville City School system posted a career head coaching record of 103-92.

Coach Parvin was named the Class 6A Coach of the Year by the Alabama Sports Writers Association in 1985.
