 Ron Haushalter

Ronnie Haushalter was a graduate of McKees Rocks High School in Pennsylvania and the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga. He played quarterback in college for UT-Chattanooga.

Haushalter landed the head football coaching job at Valley Head in 1960 where he stayed for nine seasons. In 1969 he left Valley Head for a position at Jacksonville State for one year before taking over the head coaching duties at Fyffe High School.

He found a home at Fyffe and stayed until his retirement following the 1994 season. During his career he produced three teams that finished the regular season undefeated in 1970, 1973 and 1984. His teams won eight area titles at Fyffe.

Haushalter had a career high school coaching record of 215-143-5 with 16 state playoff appearances, leading Valley Head to a runner-up finish in the state playoffs in 1967 and Fyffe to the state quarterfinals in 1984 and 1986.

The street leading to the Fyffe football stadium was named in his honor along with the team field house. Coach Haushalter was named Coach of the Year several times. He was inducted into the Alabama High School Athletic Associations Hall of Fame in 1997.

Haushalter, one of the most successful coaches in state history, died July 5, 2013 after a long illness. He was 77.
