Ronald Cheatham
Ronald Cheatham played football at Phillips High School in Birmingham and then played at Southern Miss where he was team captain his senior year. Chetham was a three-time letterman at Southern Miss between 1972-75.
He so much impressed then head coach Bobby Collins with his day-to-day practice habits that Collins hired him as a full-time assistant coach as soon as Cheatham graduated.
When Collins left Southern Miss, Cheatham came to Birmingham, where he has remained ever since. In 1989 he accepted the head football coaching job at Wenonah. Over the past 30 seasons his teams have finished a combined 172-136.
His 1995 team finished an undefeated regular season before losing in the second round of the state playoffs. In 2012 the Dragons finished with a 10-2 record.
His Dragons have gone 15-18 in the playoffs during his tenure, winning four area titles along the way. Coach Cheatham will be entering his 31st season in 2019.

Great Moments in Alabama High School Football History
Morris Higginbotham coached three different teams to divisional state championships in the 1950s. He won titles at Walnut Grove in 1952, West Blocton in 1955 and Enterprise in 1960.
