 Scott Basden

Scott Basden is a native of Trinty, Alabama and was named to the 1989 honorable mention All-State team as a senior defensive lineman at West Morgan High School.

He signed a football scholarship with the University of North Alabama following high school. Basden lettered four seasons as an offensive lineman, helping the Lions win Division II National Championships in 1994-95.

Basden had stints as an assistant coach at West Morgan and Lauderdale County before taking over the program at Parrish High School in 1999 for four seasons. His teams finished a combined 33-17 with one region title and four playoff appearances.

In 2003, he accepted a position as the offensive coordinator at Northridge High School in Tuscaloosa before moving to Cordova High School in 2005. In four seasons his teams won two region titles.

The Blue Devils went 15-0 in 2007 and defeated Clay County 21-13 in the 3A title game. In four seasons, Basden had a record of 37-12 with the Blue Devils.

Muscle Shoals High School offered him the head coaching job in 2008. Basden was well aware of the fact when he took the job that the Trojans had not had back-to-back winning seasons in 40 years. He replaced Curley Hallman, who only won four games in 2007 and 14 in the past four years.

Entering the 2024 season, his record at Muscle Shoals is 137-45 with six region titles and fourteen playoff spots. His 2012 team reached the state semi-finals of the playoffs, finishing the season 13-1.

Coach Basdens overall football record is 218-75 in twenty-four seasons. His playoff record sits at 37-21 and his teams have gone 119-29 in region play, winning eight region titles along the way. Basden was named Class 3A Coach of the Year by the Alabama Sports Writers Association in 2007.
