Sheldon Darnell
Sheldon Darnell graduated from Reeltown High School and attended Southern Union before graduating from Auburn University.
Darnell became the head football coach at Winterboro High School in 1963. He remained with the program for two seasons, finishing 8-11-1.
In 1966 he accepted the head coaching position at Wetumpka. Darnell spent twelve seasons with the Indians before leaving after the 1977 season.
He landed in Childersburg in the fall of 1980 for a seven year run with the Tigers. His overall record is 106-104-2 in 21 seasons as a head football coach in Alabama.

The first night game played between high school teams in the state occurred on September 23, 1927 when Pike Road and Cloverdale met in the Cramton Bowl in Montgomery.
