Stan Moss earned All-State honors as a back in 1963 at Ensley High School in Birmingham. The Birmingham News named him to the 4A All-State first team as a senior.

Moss played football for the University of Alabama where he was linebacker on the 1965-67 teams for the Crimson Tide. He also played baseball for the Tide and set the Alabama home run record.

Moss accepted the football head coaching job at Ider in the fall of 1976. In three seasons he led the team to a record of 9-21.

In 1979, Moss moved to Bibb County High School in Centerville. Over the next 15 seasons his team at Bibb County won 103 games and lost 57. They qualified for the state playoffs seven times. His 1981 and 1985 teams finished the regular season undefeated.

In over 25 years as a coach and teacher, Moss also coached at Fairfield, Pleasant Grove Junior High, Ensley and Arab.

Following his days as a coach, Moss became the principle at Bibb County High School. His overall record is 112-78-2 with seven playoff appearances in 18 seasons as a head football coach.
