 Terry Burt 

Terry Burt was a center on Greenville High Schools 1955 undefeated state championship team. He played footbal at Livingston between 1958-59 before embarking upon his coaching career.

Burt spent a year as an assistant football coach at Livingston High School and two seasons at Central High School in Phenix City in the same capacity.

In 1963, he accepted the head coaching position at Elmore County High School in Eclectic. Burt spent the next 28 years as the head coach of the Panthers before stepping down following the 1990 season. In that time he led the Panthers to a trio of State Championships in 1976, 1978 and 1987.

Burts first title came in 1976 when the Panthers (14-1) defeated Red Bay 20-12 for the championship. In 1978 the Panthers managed to squeak by Hazlewood 7-6 in the title game for their second Championship.

Elmore county blasted Alexandria 28-7 in 1987 for Coach Burts third title while at the helm of the Panthers.

After a three year return to the sideline in 1999, Burt retired for good with a record of 193-137-5. His teams won eight area and region championships and qualified for the state football playoffs 11 times with a playoff record of 18-8.

From 1963-2001 he served as athletic director at Elmore County. Burt was named as the Coach of the Year by the ASWA in 1991. Coach Burt was inducted into the Alabama High School Athletic Associations Hall of Fame in 1995.
