Troy Mims was a three-year letterman while playing football at the University of Alabama .
Coach Mims became the head football coach at Verbena High School in 1971. Over the next fifteen seasons his teams won three area titles and qualified for the playoffs each of those three seasons..
In 1988 Mims moved to Chilton County for the next five seasons with another three playoff teams.
His overall football record is 97-89-1 according to our records. There is evidence he was a head coach elsewhere but the records have not been found. It is thought he may have as many as 124 wins.
