 Waldon Tucker 

Coach Waldon Tucker retired following the 2010 season at Fayette County as the winningest coach in Alabama high school football history. His overall record over 37 seasons as a head coach was 309-126-3

A chronological list of Coach Tuckers coaching career.

1964 - Starred at QB for the Linden Red Devils and led them to a 10-0 record and the Class AA State Title as awarded by the Associated Press and the Birmingham Post-Herald. He was named Honorable Mention All-State by the Birmingham News.

1965 - In his senior season for the Red Devils Tucker was named Co-captain as the team finished with an 8-2 record and captured the Black Belt Championship once again. He was named 2nd team All-State at quarterback by the AP voters. He rushed for 929 yards and threw for another 631 yards while being named to the All Black Belt Conference Team.

1966-69 - Played for Livingston University as a wide receiver.

1968 - Tucker caught 40 passes for over 700 yards and 10 touchdowns for Livingston.

1969 - He caught 36 passes for 835 yards in his senior season at Livingston. He left as Livingstons all time leading receiver with 78 catches for 1570 yards and 14 touchdowns. As a side note the tailback for Livingston that season was none other than the AISA coaching legend Robbie James.

1971 - He worked as a student assistant at Livingston on what would be a National Championship team.

1973-1977 - Coach Tucker landed his first head coaching job with Demopolis Academy. He would compile a record of 29-22-3 in five season and make an appearance in the 1974 AISA State Championship game losing to Crenshaw Christian 7-0.

1978-1983 - A six year stint at Gordo proved to be a very successful for the coach as he managed a record of 54-15 winning a State Title in 1980 with a 14-0 team.

1984-2010 - Coach Tucker jumped to Fayette County in 1984 and in the next 27 seasons put together a very nice 230-95 record before retiring following the 2010 season. He would win another State Championship in 1996.

* Four Undefeated Regular Seasons - 1980, 1981, 1989, 1996.

* In 1988 he was elected into the Livingston University Hall of Fame.

* Alabama Sports Writers Association Coach of the Year in 1989 and 1996.

* Won State Title in 1980 and 1996. Finished as runner-up in 1975 and 2000.

* 43-25 playoff record

* 107-34 region record with eleven region championships

* Sixteen season with ten or more wins.

* His teams made the playoffs twenty-seven times.

Tucker came out of retirement in 2020 to once again lead Fayette County onto the football field.
