Week 3

This is the time of year when the weeks fly by. We are already two weeks into the 2011 season and a few tidbits on this past weekend's action.

   *  Daphne and Thomasville all continued their state leading 18 game winning streaks.

   *  Central Hayneville continues to top our list with thirty-five consecutive losses.

   *  Crenshaw Christian has won twenty-two regular season games in a row.

   *   Handley won on the road so their streak remains at twenty-seven home wins in a row.

   *   Cold Springs has lost twenty-six straight region games.

   *   The T.R. Miller Tigers have scored in 308 consecutive games.

   *  Sweet Water has won thirty-five straight region games.



Note: The new schools will not be included in team records because of the obvious reasons.

Teams that set team records.   

Points scored in a game

 * Ragland set a team record for points scored in a game by defeating Jefferson Christian 73-12.
 * West Blocton set a team record for points scored in a game by defeating Southside Selma 78-26.


Points allowed in a game

 * Southside Selma set a team record for points allowed in a game by losing to West Blocton 26-78.


Margin of Victory game

 * Gadsden City set a team record for margin of victory by defeating Shades Valley 49-0.
 * Muscle Shoals set a team record for margin of victory by defeating Columbia 53-0.
 * Pinson Valley set a team record for margin of victory by defeating Moody 56-7.


Margin of Defeat game

 * Columbia set a team record for margin of defeat in a game by losing to Muscle Shoals 0-53.
 * Decatur Heritage Christian set a team record for margin of defeat in a game by losing to Sumiton Christian 0-42.


Points Scored by Both Teams in a Game

 * Fort Dale Academy set a team record for points scored by both teams in a game by defeating Lyman Ward 49-38.
 * Southside Selma set a team record for points scored by both teams in a game by losing to West Blocton 26-78.
 * West Blocton set a team record for points scored by both teams in a game by defeating Southside Selma 78-26

Great Moments in Alabama High School Football History

The first football game played by a high school team in Alabama was in 1892 when Central Birmingham (Phillips) lost to Alabama 56-0 on November 11.
