The Deshler Tigers lost their leader and head football coach during the 2014 season with the tragic death of Jake Linville. Michael Statom finished out the season as the head coach and led the Tigers to the Class 4A state championship game before falling to Leeds 30-0.

Deshler has been a consistent winner over the years and there are no indications the program will be in decline anytime in the future.
