Mark Freeman resigned his position at Spanish Fort and returns to the Birmingham area to take over the football program at Thompson high school. Freeman was very successful as the head football coach at Bessemer Academy winning four state championships in the A.I.S.A. with an overall record of 101-21 in ten seasons between 1998-2007. He was the head coach at Gulf Shores in 2009-10 with a two year record of 13-9. In 2011 he took over the football program at Spanish Fort and led the Toros to a pair of State Championships and a 50-7 record in four seasons. |
Ben Blackmon accepted the head coaching job at Spanish Fort in January. He previously served as a head coach at Gulf Shores and Greenville. His record at Gulf Shores was 21-20 in four seasons and 31-14 at Greenvile in the same number of years. Overall his record stands at 52-34 in eight seasons as a head coach in Alabama. His best team was in Greenville when the 2009 squad went 11-1 losing in the second round of the playoffs. |

Clay County shutout an amazing eleven opponents in 1996. The Panthers outscored their opponents 613-42 finishing the season 15-0.
