Alan Beckett leaves Gaston after just one season and a 2-8 record. He was hired at Gaston just two weeks prior to the 2023 football season and the team struggled to field enough players but Coach Beckett righted the ship and worked to rebuild the program. The school simply wished to go in a different direction it seems. 2024 Season Derrick Sewell accepted the head coaching job at Gaston in April after moving over from West End. Sewell was the head coach at West End the last three seasons going 16-16 with two playoff appearances over the last two years. Before his time at West End, Sewell was the head coach at Ragland, going to the playoffs his final season there. Sewell previously was an assistant and the head baseball coach at Gaston from 2012-14, when he was starting his coaching career. | |

Luverne 'Toad' Wise was the first female football player in Alabama and may have been the first in the country. She was a kicker for the Escambia County Blue Devils in 1939-40.
