Joel Schrenk stepped down as the head football coach in January. He led the football program at Woodland for the past two seasons with a record of 4-16. He leaves after a dozen seasons as the head coach at Falkville, Hazel Green and Woodland. His overall record stands at 60-66. 2024 Season Kevin Smith returns home to his alma mater at Woodland in 2024 as the head football coach. Smith has 29 years of coaching experience and has been at Lanett, Handley and Benjamin Russell. He graduated from Woodland High School and played football at Jacksonville State. | |

Luverne 'Toad' Wise was the first female football player in Alabama and may have been the first in the country. She was a kicker for the Escambia County Blue Devils in 1939-40.
