Jimmy Addison served as an assistant coach at Carroll High School and Troy State before landing at Dothan High School. He worked for eleven seasons as an assistant football coach at Dothan before stepping up to the head coaching job.
Addison served as the head football coach at Dothan High School from 1994-2002. Following his retirement from the sidelines at Dothan, Addison was elected to the Dothan School Board of Education.
In 2007, Addison came out of retirement and accepted the head coaching position at Houston Academy. Since that time his teams have gone 60-52 in the eleven seasons he was the head coach. Each of his squads qualified for the playoffs until the 2015 season.
Addison was on the coaching staff for the South squad in the 1998 football All-Star game.
