His next stop came at Hamilton in 1956 where in his first two years the team went 18-2. His record at Hamilton was 61-33-6 in ten seasons at the helm. He would later serve as an assistant coach at Banks in the 1960s. After completing 20 years of coaching, he entered school administration as Principal of Hemphill Elementary School and Ensley High School. He was also Executive Director of the National Education Center. In 1980 he was inducted into the Woodlawn High School Hall of Fame. Lott was inducted into the Marion County Sports Hall of Fame in 1996, and the Fayette County Sports Hall of Fame in 2004. He was inducted into the Alabama High School Athletic Associations Hall of Fame in 2005. Coach Lott accepted a commission as a Second Lt. in the 877 Engineering Battalion in the Alabama National Guard. He retired in 1981 with 29 years of service as a Brigadier General. Lott was also a member of the Birmingham Touchdown Club, Hoover Country Club, Hoover Veterans Committee, and received the Hoover 2008 Freedom Award.
