Alabama High School Football Head Coaches

Glendon Gibbs


Glendon Gibbs was a graduate of Brilliant High School and the Florence State. He accepted the head coaching job at Brilliant in 1955 where he stayed for the next 17 seasons.

His 17 football teams combined for a 124-55-11 record. Gibbs was involved with Brilliant High School athletics for 35 years as a coach and administrator.

Gibbs coached basketball for 33 years with over 500 wins, carried three teams to the state tournament and coached in the Alabama North-South All-Star game.

He served as school principal for two years and was a member of the Marion County Board of Education for six years.

He was inducted into the Alabama High School Athletic Associations Hall of Fame.
