W.C Majors was born October 15, 1929 in Frisco City, Alabama. He played football at Frisco City High School in Monroe County and was a three-sport star for the Whippetts. He graduated high school in 1948. Majors also played at East Mississippi Junior College in Scooba and earned his B.S. degree from Auburn University in 1953. He later received his Masters Degree from the University of Alabama. Majors took a job at Excel in 1955 and became the head football coach at Excel the next year. One of his star players was Lee Roy Jordan of Alabama fame. He spent three seasons as the head coach at Excel and five years with the school. In 1960 he went to Frisco City where he served as an assistant football and head basketball coach for four years. His basketball teams at Excel and Frisco City, during a nine-year stretch, compiled a 151-41 overall record. In 1964 he took the head football coaching job at Fairhope High School. |
