So I saw recently that the new reclassification numbers will be released in December.

Just curious of what thoughts were or what anyone is hearing across the state?

I know a few AISA teams are moving up. Wonder how this will shake things up?
Are there any new schools forming or schools closing or consolidations?
What was ever decided about the proposals for 7A? (possibly splitting it up into 2 divisions or making an 8A?)

Always fun times when trying to guess the numbers and thinking about the teams that could move up or down due to size and then the ones that could move due to competitive balance.

I have heard Collinsville is going 3A and Plainview might go 4A.

I would hate if they added an 8A...not enough schools. It's bad enough there are only 32 teams in 7A. Would be better if they got rid of 7A and just had 6 classes as it was before.

I really hope that they don't sub-divide 7A into 2 divisions. This would make more sense at the 1A level because some schools are 2.5 times bigger than others.

Easiest way to look at it is you have to make a state title game to have any chance of moving up.

They are. I always forget they're a public school for some reason.

To add above:
Tuscaloosa Academy has to reach the championship game to move up to 3A.
Alabama Christian is another 3A team that would move up with a championship game.
American Christian and Randolph would both move to 5A with a championship game appearance.
St. Paul's would move to 7A with a championship appearance.

In the opposite direction if Montgomery Academy gets bounced before the Quarters then they move down to 3A.
A Mars Hill loss in the 1st round (unlikely) they would move down to 2A.
(Either of these teams could also stay where they are based on enrollment)

If Priceville isn't 5A next year something is wrong. A lot of residents believed they were going 5A last time but they settled for being one of the largest 4A schools instead. They've already announced a subdivision by the high school that would be several hundred new homes. If it happens I imagine we'll see several Priceville/Russellville matchups for the region title.

Valley and Lafayette won't consolidate until the new school is built. The federal judge assigned to the case has already ruled on that. Likely not happening until 2026-2027 School Year.

T.R. Miller is not a private school so they shouldnt be affected by CB

Some things that I've heard/have been announced so far:

-Valley is supposed to be consolidating with Lafayette. My understanding is the school will likely still be called Valley High School, and could potentially go back up to 6A.

-Sidney Lanier is closing. Those students will attend Carver-Montgomery next year, which almost certainly will make Carver 7A.

-With R.A. Hubbard closing after the 22-23 school year, those students are now at Hatton. That could bump Hatton up to 3A next year.

-Helena is expected to move up to 7A

-If both Carver-Montgomery and Helena move up to 7A, that could see one or both of Austin and Florence drop back down to 6A. However, that would make Regions 2 and 3 very crowded. We've seen them put Hewitt-Trussville in the Huntsville region before, so that could happen again. They would likely take a Montgomery-area team and put them in the Mobile region too.

Private Schools/Competitive Balance:

-Lee-Scott and Glenwood are moving from AISA and are expected to be 3A. Autauga Academy and Pickens Academy are also moving from AISA and are expected to be 1A

-Coosa Christian will move up to 2A if they reach the state championship game

-Tuscaloosa Aca. will move up to 3A if they reach the semifinals

-St. James will move up to 4A if they reach the 2nd round

-Madison Aca, Mobile Christian, Trinity, and Mars Hill each would move up to 4A if they were to reach the state championship game

-T.R. Miller will move up to 5A if they reach the state championship

-Montgomery Catholic will move up to 5A if they reach the state championship

-Faith Academy and UMS-Wright would move up to 6A if they reach the state championship

Well we know for a fact that Saint James will have to go up to 4A after winning state in 2022. I believe Robertsdale, Saraland, Helena are going up to 7A but those three are not confirmed.
