Posted - 10/31/2024 : 13:04:08 "The AHSAA has placed additional fines and forfeits on Coosa Christian HS.
Coosa's varsity football program has been fined and placed on restrictive probation effective immediately and concluding at the end of the 2025 football championship series (December 5, 2025) for playing an ineligible player in violation of the Coaching Outside School Year Rule.
They will forfeit 4 additional games including Southeastern, Falkville, Susan Moore, and Cold Springs.
Per the AHSAA: Coosa Christian School has been provided specific conditions to meet prior to the 2025 football season and as a result may appear before the AHSAA Central Board of Control at its July Board meeting for possible reinstatement into the 2025 championship."

Gives me a team to root against now. Two years in a row something similar happens.
Hopefully this doesn't keep happening at this school. |

Let's not jump to conclusions here please. What Coosa Christian got in trouble for last season has nothing to do with what happened this year. Two totally different situations.
Last year they forfeited games due to playing an ineligible player. This year it was because of a player having improper contact with a coach not associated with the school. These two things are not the same. The player was not declared ineligible according to the AHSAA therefore they were not forced to forfeit additional games they student played.
This has happened several times at other schools but usually in other sports. Since it was not football very few people remember.
So to the best of my ability to understand things here and from what I know and have been told the punishment is about right for this type of infraction.
Let us not assume anything expect the facts of the case. Next time it could be your favorite school.

Ok, but that contradicts the AHSAAs formal statement:

But the AHSAA's own website clearly says the player WAS ineligible.
Which is it?
Is the investigation over? One would think that a team already on probation would be under the microscope and would get a harsher penalty than a team not on probation.
From what I have been advised, this is not over.

Posted - 10/30/2024 : 08:19:15 In 2011 Randolph County had to forfeit 1 game due to AHSAA sanctions on a player being ineligible. If I recall correctly, it put us on probation for a couple years (not exactly sure how long though).
I agree certain schools get a lot more lead way. I do know this to be true in general but a lot of the upper echelons at the AHSAA have their kids and grands in private schools. I learned about this during my 6 years of media coverage from 2015-2020. Not saying it?s an underlying reason but it raises the question.

Posted - 10/30/2024 : 07:35:33 just shows AHSAA has no balls.. basically they got in trouble last year.. then when playing to the team that turned them in destroyed them. unfortunately Red Bay is next...
I guess if this was a lowly Public school.. they would have got kicked out of the playoffs... SEE Parrish around 1988 or 1989.... |

Posted - 10/29/2024 : 23:38:07 So they had to forfeit one game due to an ineligible player that played against Cleveland a 43-0 win by Coosa? So this player mysteriously did not play the week before against Fyffe? Against Pell City? Tuscaloosa Academy? And know one else in the region? This makes absolutely O sense!! Why are they not on probation from last year?

Well, that seems suspicious. It doesn't seem like the AHSAA is going to investigate further. Still has a few question marks from me. |

Posted - 10/29/2024 : 20:54:40 Convenient that the kid only played against Cleveland, a loss that would mean nothing.
Red Bay is gonna get demolished so bad. |

Posted - 10/29/2024 : 17:08:52 Selective enforcement as usual with the AHSAA. Do they really expect everyone to believe that the ineligible player only played in one game?
