Every year there are teams who go on surprise runs to the Quarterfinals, Semifinals, or maybe even the state championship game.

So which teams do you think can/will make deep postseason runs that a lot of people may not expect?

7A
Hewitt-Trussville--Has looked like the best team in Region 3 down the stretch

6A
St. Paul's--Tough 1st Round draw @ Helena, but they would have a very favorable 2nd Round matchup. I have them in the Quarterfinals

McGill-Toolen--Spain Park is a great team, but McGill showed with their win over Spanish Fort that they can compete with anyone; 2nd Round matchup would be favorable

Gadsden City--I would be very surprised if they beat Clay-Chalkville, but the Titans always seem to over-perform in the playoffs

5A
UMS-Wright--They probably don't belong here since they're already a trendy upset pick, but if they get past Demopolis I don't see either of the other two teams in their pod beating them

4A
W.S. Neal--I have them beating St. James in my bracket, and I would take them over Dale Co., in the next round, but I would slightly favor Fairfield over them

Anniston--I like them to beat Randolph, and they have the ability to grind out a low-scoring win over Good Hope as well; after that they'd likely get West Morgan, but Anniston matched up pretty well with a very similar team in Cherokee Co.

3A
Alabama Christian--I expect a crazy shootout-type game against Glenwood, and then they'd face Bayside Academy, who hasn't impressed me this year

Weaver--I don't know what happened after that Winterboro game, but this is a completely different team from the first half of the year. They led most of the game against Piedmont, their lone loss since then, and they have great QB play. If they win they'd host Winfield, who I think is the weakest 1-seed in the North

2A
Ariton--I'd argue they have the weakest 1 and 2 seeds in the South in their pod

Pleasant Valley/Sulligent--Whoever wins this game has a very favorable draw the rest of the way. Southeastern only got a 1-seed through forfeit in an already weak region, and the two best teams in the North are on the other side of the bracket

1A
Millry--This team is capable of winning the whole thing if they play well

Florala--They have a brutal draw, but they would be a 2-seed in most of the other regions in 1A

Pickens Co.--They always manage to win multiple games in the playoffs

Ragland--They match up well with Winterboro, and then Hackleburg and Pickens Co. both have looked beatable. I also think Region 8 will end up looking much stronger than people thought

Any idea what happened with Lanett when they played Central Coosa?

I definitely can't answer that. Lanett had a lot of Dr Jeckell and Mr. Hyde going on this year. In my opinion it looks like there was some meddling by a former coach who stepped down a couple years ago.
Having seen them play a few times this year it was very apparent how talented they are. Just seems like there were some distractions along the way that caused them to play horribly at times.

Count me in that group. I had them at least 3rd round. I am surprised.

Go Eagles!

They're not in the playoffs, but team that would be absolutely terrifying if they had made it in is Briarwood. After they dropped to 0-5, they laid whuppins on Leeds, Corner, and McAdory. If they'd gotten off to just a slow start instead of what they did, they would be a trendy pick to make a run in 5A.

That said, I do think Ramsay could be dangerous in 5A. I watched their game against Wenonah and they looked really, really good. Their offense went kinda cold in the 2nd and 3rd quarter, but they were all over Wenonah's offense.
