| Don't blame them especially if what I read was accurate and AHSAA allowed about 5 schools to resubmit numbers last classification. |

| Could it have been a procedural error? Did Scottsboro dispute this within a specific time frame? I have no dog in this race. I am just trying to see both sides. |

From Scottsboro's side (and this has been confirmed with several ADs and administrators), the AHSAA sent the preliminary numbers to the schools a week before the reclassification to verify that they were correct. Scottsboro is saying they showed the discrepancy and that 11 kids were counted twice--and were told, in essence, that it didn't really matter, the numbers were the numbers and that was that. I have no idea beyond that, but if that's true, the AHSAA really messed up. |

| Wow. I wonder how that will affect the regions in 4A, which already have 8 teams each. Will they drop someone else down to 3A or go with a 9 team region? |

I cant believe they moved Douglas too. Now the 5A6 teams have a hole in their schedule they probably cant fil without playing another region opponent a second time, finding a team in a 7 or 9 team region on bye, or going out of state. |

9 team region it looks like. Won't help a ton for those 5A teams but the 4A R8 teams will now have to drop a non region game. So its limited but there are a few available spots. For us (Brewer) I'm assuming we'll have to drop either Ardmore or West Limestone to fit Scottsboro in.
But what a blunder by the AHSAA. Harmon's statement makes it look like they're blaming Scottsboro yet they delayed the new classifications release by several weeks to get it right and still got it wrong. |

West Morgan had to drop their game vs Good Hope, now they're playing 5A Athens. |

It is just darn mess now.The AHSAA should be ashamed.Scottsboro originally tried to get them to fix it when they fixed the rest of the errors and Scottsboro got denied. Only now to have it the way it should have been in the first place. AHSAA has seen their finer moments and this isn't one of them. |

If you want to know how dumb the AHSAA is, we just reached out to them about a rule in their rule book, and the official answer was "oh, that rule shouldn't be in there". They are just making it up as they go along.

What rule was it?
Basically in the postseason, all costs are supposed to be covered by the AHSAA from the gate, then after they pay the refs, travel costs, etc. - they split the net profits among the schools and AHSAA. For instance, in football - every playoff game is split 38% home, 38% away, 24% AHSAA.
So we randomly got an invoice to pay some of the refs for the area tournament/sub-regionals in basketball and didn't understand why. We looked it up in the sports book and it said the AHSAA was responsible for it. A couple hundred extra bucks to us is no big deal, but for some schools it may be. We called the AHSAA and asked why we were being invoiced to pay it because the rules said the AHSAA takes it out of the gate so we don't technically have to come out of pocket. After 30 min on hold, they finally came back and said "oh, that rule is not supposed to be in there, you have to pay for it" and that was that.
It's not much, but it's setting the precedent that they can just say "oh that's not supposed to be the rule" about anything and we just have to accept it.
