In looking through old newspapers, here is some updates for Madison County coaches. 1921 Nathaniel Almon 1922 Nathan Salley (not Sallen as listed on website) 1923 J C Hall 1924 Hugh C. Clabough
1933 John Shirley 1934 Walton Wright 1935 Tom Shackleford 1936 W. D. Sneed 1937 W.O. Woolley 1938 N.E. Wolff 1939 N.E. Wolff 1940 Tracy Burger was the coach at least thru the Huntsville game in early October. There is an article where Grady Elmore leaves Jacksonville to coach at MCHS 2nd week of October. Elmore did coach basketball and baseball in 1941 before leaving MCHS. Not sure if Burger left after Huntsville game and Elmore took over or if Burger finished the season. 1941 W.O. Woolley 1943 W.O. Wooley 1949 Hub Myhand 1950 Hub Myhand
I have come across new info on 1935. Tom Shackleford moved on before the football season and did not coach at MCHS. He was hired at Gordo and was the coach there in 1935. W.D. Sneed was the coach at MCHS for 1935 and the 1936 football seasons. Also W.O.Woolley was the coach from 1941, 1943-1948. MCHS did not have a team in 1942 due to WW2. Only Huntsville and Rison fielded a team in 1942 of all Madison county schools. Here are also a couple more games from 1935. Oct. 4 1935 MCHS 12 Joe Bradley 0. (They played 2 times that year) Nov 8, 1935 MCHS 0 Rison 0 (no score tie) Thanks
