I have been sitting on this for about a week but since I will not be the first one to break the news here are some preliminary numbers we should see come next week after the AHSAA Central Board meets in Montgomery.

Remember this is before any changes that could be made by the AHSAA next week. Once there is a formal announcement I will post the new region alignments for each classification.

If you want more details for any region, class or team just ask a question by responding to this post and I will look it up for you. Most of the regions are set unless changes are made next week.

A few surprises from the preliminary enrollment numbers and 2022 reclassification.

Opelika, Lee Montgomery and Chelsea move up to 7A.
Murphy and Theodore move down to 6A.
Pike Road moves up to 6A.
Vigor moves up to 5A.
T.R. Miller and Catholic Montgomery move up to 4A
Orange Beach goes from 2A as a new school all the way to 4A next year.
Tuscaloosa Academy moves from the AISA to 3A
Northside Methodist Academy moves from an independent to 3A.
Mars Hill moves up to 3A.
Gordo moves down to 3A.
Fyffe moves down to 2A.
Leroy, Elba, Addison and Spring Garden all move down to 1A.

6A Region 4 has Briarwood and Helena with the schools south of Birmingham.

Region 5 may look like:
Hillcrest
McAdory
Northridge
Paul Bryant
Brookwood
Bessemer City
Central T.

Regions 6 May look like:
Hueytown
Homewood
Mt. Brook
Woodlawn
Jackson-Olin
Parker
Wenonah

Region 7 may look like:
Hartselle
Cullman
Center Point
Pinson Valley
Gardendale
Minor
Mortimer Jordan

Region 7 may look like:
Shades Valley
Huffman
Clay-Chalkville
Gadsden City
Oxford
Pell City
Ft. Payne

Remember these are just projections. Not actual alignments. We are almost assured these are the 6A school but are guessing at how each region will look.

Montgomery Academy will move up to 4A due to the competitive balance rule.
I believe that Tuscaloosa Academy will be 2A, but that is just a guess.

No change for Haleyville and Lawrence County that I see.

They should remain in the same class and region they were in this year. Winston County may be moved to region 6 since Woodland and Pleasant Valley have joined 2A. Regions 5 and 6 could see some teams shuffled about.

Montgomery Academy should be moved to 4A due to competitive balance. Also St. Paul's will be moved to 6A. Those are the only two schools affected by that rule that I see now.
Well Mars Hill but I think they were going to be 3A anyway.

What I have shows Tuscaloosa Academy as a 3A school. We will see in a few days.

Fyffe will likely be 2A Region 7 with all the other teams that were in that region this year. Collinsville will also join them in 2A it looks like. Falkville and Tanner will likely move to Region 8 in that case.

Colbert County and Mars Hill are moving up to 3A leaving two openings in 2A Region 8. The new teams are likely Falkville and Tanner.

Remember these are just speculations.

Priceville people were preparing for a bump to 5A. Think that comes through?

Also from your guessed region alignments does this mean Arab drops to 5A?

Priceville looks like the smallest school in 5A.
It does have Arab as a 5A school.

That wouldn?t surprise me. We were 2A back in 2004 and 2005 when I was a sophomore and Junior. Was in the same region as Falkville, Cold Springs, Cleveland, Oakman, Vernon (Lamar County), Cordova (before Parrish closed) and Priceville (which just opened back then.)

Cordova should remain exactly where they were in region 5. But they may be joined by Jasper.
