I applaud you for making the list! I don't know enough about the whole state to make one myself but I think the twitter responses were funny

Dora will have its best team since the mid 2000s in 4a anything less than 9-1 and a trip to the 3rd round of the playoffs will be a major disappointment. They will play winfield & oneonta week 1 & 2. Should tell us alot about them. Don't really buy the winfield being a top 5 team. They lost their best player but you may have more info on them than me.

Winfield usually has a pretty solid team. I should have looked more into Dora. Thank you for this |

Sylvania Geraldine Plainview
All three should be strong this year. Top 10 is a possiblity for all 3, Slyvania would be in my top 10 and more than likely Geraldine. |

I will take a stab at 3A and 2A
3A 1. Saint James 2. Mobile Christian 3. Mars Hill 4. Piedmont 5. Sylvania 6. Madison Academy 7. Pike County 8. Geraldine (My dark horse finals pick) very talented team. 9. Thomasville 10. Trinity
2A 1. B.B. Comer (Returns almost everyone from finals team last year, probably the best back in the state or at least one of the best)
2. Fyffe (they lost a lot but they are still pretty dang good)
3. Pisgah(Lost in the semis to fyffe, return a lot)
4. Tuscaloosa Academy
5. Reeltown 6. Highland Home 7. G.W. Long 8. Isabella 9. Highland Home 10.Aliceville (talented but lost a lot from last year)
Comment on 1A I saw Valley Head in the spring and they didn't look very good. They appear to be very young in the skill area. Then again it's 1A so it is hard to tell.

To Sloth and the others posting polls.
I applaud you for your efforts. Do not worry about the blowhards on Twitter. It is easy for them to yak about what others do and I should know since they do it to me all the time. Those guys know so very little about the history of football it is amazing. I tried to work with them last year but that is over. I did DM the guy about his tweet.
They have their own agenda and it is totally contrary to AHSFHS.org and myself.
They aren't going to post their polls for the world to see but take pleasure in poking at anyone else posting their thoughts. I welcome anyone to post anything you wish as long it is in good taste and does not trash any team, school, coach or fan.
I encourage others to post what teams you think will be up or down this season. I am working every day on the previews and projection for AHSFHS.org that will begin to be posted around August 1st. You can also email me if you prefer about the teams in your area at dparker@ahsfhs.org
Thanks to everyone for using the forums. It is going to be another great year.

Hey Sloth!
Nice predictions. Randolph County returns a 4th year quarterback, all of the offensive line, and most of the running backs. We lost 2 good WRs but overall offensively we will be more sound. BUT! Theres always a but hee hee hee. Our qb will be out for 3 or 4 games as Im told. Not going to say why. The upside is the first half of the schedule is the weaker side m.
You already know as long as Coach Horn is coaching at the helm Of Clay County keep them in the top 10.
Piedmont will be fine. Coach Miller did great things with Saks over the last decade with lesser talent. Piedmont will still be Piedmont IMO.
Handley is going to be interesting to see from the RB stand point. The last 3 starting running backs from the last 3-4 years all went on to play D1 ball at UCONN, TROY & CLEMSON. Who ever is the next RB definitely has some shoes to fill and a tradition to keep alive.

7A 1) Thompson 2) Auburn 3) Central Phenix City 4) Hoover 5) Hewitt-Trussville 6) Vestavia Hills 7) Dothan 8) Fairhope 9) Florence 10) Tuscaloosa County
6A 1) Saraland (This could likely be the best team in any class) 2) Mountain Brook 3) Theodore (Adding Steve Mask to the sidelines is almost unfair) 4) Clay-Chalkville 5) Gardendale 6) Muscle Shoals 7) Center Point 8) Hartselle 9) Homewood 10) Decatur
5A 1) Charles Henderson 2) Ramsay 3) Faith Academy 4) UMS-Wright (I can't remember the last time I had UMS this low pre-season) 5) Gulf Shores 6) Arab 7) Pleasant Grove (I fear the championship window may have closed for this team) 8) Leeds 9) Beauregard 10) Moody

2A 1) Fyffe (As always, until someone knocks them off) 2) B.B. Comer (Watch Out. They return pretty much every key player from the team that outplayed Fyffe for 2/3 of the title game) 3) Reeltown 4) Highland Home 5) Aliceville 6) Ariton 7) Pisgah 8) Tuscaloosa Academy 9) Lexington 10) Luverne
1A 1) Millry 2) Brantley 3) Pickens County 4) Leroy 5) Spring Garden 6) Lynn 7) Addison 8) Elba 9) Coosa Christian (After one of the most unexpected Cinderella runs in recent memory, it's anyone's guess as to what this team does for an encore) 10) Meek |

I've just read where Spring Garden's coached stepped down, so I'll move them out of the top 10 and bump everyone up 1, putting Marion County in at #10. |

Enjoying the early predictions, especially since I only really focus on the far north part of the state (down to about Cullman). Always good to get a look at who will be tough that's not from my neck of the woods.
Already seeing some early talk and writeups from the local media outlets up here. Mostly about 7 on 7s and lineman camps with a few other stories thrown in. Just a sign that we're getting closer and closer to Week 0. |

don't sleep on Tuscaloosa Acad. Fyffe is #1 until someone beats them in the State Title game. BB Comer is real, but Fyffe was missing there best RB which is a freaking stud in the title game last year. 2A 1. Fyffe 2. BB Comer 3. Tucaloosa Acad 4. Reeltown 5. Pisgah 6. Vincent 7. G.W. Long 8. Isabella 9. Highland Home 10. Aliceville ( missing some SR, plus Stud QB was a SR) |

I sent David an email about this, but I learned the other day that Damian Thompson, all state wideout from Mars Hill with 13 D1 offers has transferred to Rogers for his senior season. Makes them a player in the region now. I had my 4 being:
1.) West Morgan 2.) Deshler 3.) Brooks 4.) Rogers
But I think I will flip Brooks and Rogers now. Brooks also has some injuries they are working with right now and Garrett Reid also transferred to Deshler. |

Glad it is getting close enough for preseason ranking thoughts. Hoping to see Addison get back on track this year.
Also excited to keep up with Piedmont after Hayes and Smith left. |

I usually only do 2A, 3A, and 4A as those are the classes I follow the closest. I am still trying to gather information on teams, but here is my preliminary top 10 for 2A.
1.) Fyffe 2.) Reeltown 3.) Aliceville 4.) BB Comer 5.) Falkville 6.) Ariton 7.) Wicksburg 8.) Pisgah 9.) Red Bay 10.) Clarke County
OLI in no particular order: Highland Home, Luverne & Winston County
3A 1.) St. James 2.) Piedmont 3.) Gordo 4.) Mars Hill 5.) Alabama Christian 6.) Mobile Christian 7.) Trinity 8.) Dadeville 9.) Madison Academy 10.) Sylvania
OLI: Colbert County , Lauderdale County, Pike County
4A 1.) Andalusia 2.) Oneonta 3.) Anniston 4.) Cherokee County 5.) Montgomery Catholic 6.) Handley 7.) TR Miller 8.) Etowah 9.) Dora 10.) West Morgan
OLI: Deshler, Priceville, Randolph

I think everyone is in the right ballpark for 2A. I would say:
1. Fyffe ( No explanation needed) 2. BB Comer (Their RB had the ability to takeover a game) 3. Reeltown 4. Highland Home ( Faulk and May go off this season) 5. Aliceville ( Lots of Seniors last year but they always seem to reload) 6. Tuscaloosa Academy ( Really poised QB and one of the best lines in 2A) 7. Ariton 8. Luverne 9. Lexington 10. Lamar County (Load of Seniors on this team. They?re a dark horse for a deep run.) |
