Griffith was All-County for two years; also All-State, All-Southern, All-American; Ran track, played baseball; Played tailback on the football team. Griffith rushed for 2,078 yards on 240 carries and completed 43 of 81 passes for 915 yards as a senior at Hokes Bluff. He also punted 21 times for a 43.4 yard average. He scored 186 points.
