Sylacauga High School, Left Halfback (offense) and Linebacker (defense) played 3 years varsity football and was Captain of team. He specialized as Linebacker, punter, extra points, and kick off. He was named All-State Back, 1961; Sylacauga High School Back-of-the-Year, 1961; Grant-in-aid football scholarship to the University of Alabama.
