            Quarterback for Geneva County High School, Hartford. He played four years varsity football, specializing in punting, extra point kicking, and field goal kicking. His Athletic honors include All-Conference Football in 1961 and 1962, All State Football in 1962 and Most Valuable Player in 1962 Peanut Bowl, All-Conference Basketball in 1961-1962.

Morris Higginbotham coached three different teams to divisional state championships in the 1950s. He won titles at Walnut Grove in 1952, West Blocton in 1955 and Enterprise in 1960.
