            Cole was All-County 1961-62, Lineman of the Year 1962, Most Valuable Player, Crossville 1962. He played 4 years of varsity football and was captain of his squad in 1962. He also played basketball and participated in track and wrestling.

Clay County shutout an amazing eleven opponents in 1996. The Panthers outscored their opponents 613-42 finishing the season 15-0.
