Owens athletic honors included All-County three years, All-Conference two years and All-State. In 88 rushing attempts he gained 484 yards. He caught 15 passes for 251 yards and completed a pass for another touchdown. His specialty was kick-off and extra points. He played varsity football for three seasons and was captain of his team.
Great Moments in Alabama High School Football History
The Tuscaloosa Black Bears were considered one of the best programs in the nation from 1925-1931. Their record over that span was an amazing 61-0-3.
