Thompson played three years of varsity football. He was voted the Most Valuable Player, All-TVC - All-State. He was the player that gained more yardage for his team than any other for two years - junior and senior years. He was a track man and likes to play basketball as well as football. His specialty was running back. In his senior year he gained 770 yards in 133 carries and caught 3 passes for 80 yards.
