Kirby completed 113 of 210 passes for 1,384 yards and ten touchdowns as a senior at Tuscaloosa. He played three years of varsity football and was Captain of his squad. His specialties were - Offense, Defense, Pass, Punt and Punt Returns. He completed 39 passes out of 67 attempted for 468 yards. He threw nine touchdowns, scored two touchdowns. He was an Outstanding Scholar; Won Athletic Trophy; All West Alabama (2nd); All Tuscaloosa County. He played basketball and was Best Defensive Player and was on All-Tournament Team, Region 2.
