Northam played three years of varsity football and was Captain of his squad. His specialty was "Center For Punts". He was All-Conference (67 & 68); Most Valuable Lineman; All-State (68); Super All-State (1968); Honorable Mention All American (1968). He was All-Tournament in basketball, also. He was All-County Shot-Put and All-Conference Shot-Put.
Great Moments in Alabama High School Football History
The Super 6 State Championships began in 1996. Since then all title games were played at Legion Field in Birmingham until 2009.
