Chandler played four years of varsity football and was Captain of his team. He was All-County; All-TVC; All-State; Honorable Mention All-American; Most Valuable Back; Most Valuable Senior. Here are some of his statistics: Rushing 869 yards- passes attempted 83, completed 31 for 296 yards and two touchdowns. He ran 13 touchdowns - his punt return was 15 for 351 yards - average of 24 yards.

Morris Higginbotham coached three different teams to divisional state championships in the 1950s. He won titles at Walnut Grove in 1952, West Blocton in 1955 and Enterprise in 1960.
