 High School Bio:

            Beard played three years of varsity football and was Captain of his squad. He was Honorable Mention Prep All-American Football by Coach & Athletic Magazine; All-State, 3rd Team; All-Metro; All-County, Most Valuable Player, Dental Clinic Game; School Award, Play of the Week. He ran track and excels in shot and discus. He averaged 4.2 yards per carry and 10 tackles a game.

In 1969 the two point conversion was adopted for play following a touchdown. Until that time all conversions were worth one point.
