Preuitt played quarterback on the varsity football team two years and was captain of his squad. He was Associated Press Back of Week, All County, All-Conference, Honorable Mention All-State, Most Valuable Defensive Back, and Most Valuable Athlete last season. He was also an active participant in basketball, baseball, and track. His specialty was "punter." in two seasons, he completed 67 of 131 passes (51.1%) for over 1500 yards; ran 14 touchdowns and passed for 17 touchdowns; rushed for 682 yards; and had ball intercepted only 4 times in 2 years.
