            Played end on his varsity football team two years; also played basketball and baseball. Was captain of his football team during his senior year and earned Most Valuable Defensive Lineman and All-County honors. Was also captain of his basketball team and named Most Valuable Player by his team.

In 1970 Monroe Academy won the first championship in the A.I.S.A. by defeating Lowndes Academy 6-0.
