Gargis led Colbert County to the Class 3A state championship as a senior. He threw for 22 touchdowns as a senior and ran for another score. Played quarterback on the varsity football team four years and was captain two years. Named Most Valuable Player on Team, Shoals Area Most Outstanding Back, and All-State Team member.
