            Played quarterback for four years on the varsity football team. Served as team captain, selected Most Valuable Back in Morgan County, earned All-Morgan County, All-Tennessee Valley Conference, All-State and All-American Team honors. Attempted 156 passes, 84 completed for 1,704 yards and 14 touchdowns; 110 rushes for 714 yards and 10 touchdowns.
