Cox had 54 receptions during his junior year. Played fullback and tight end on the varsity football team four years; also served as captain. Selected Most Valuable Player by his school in football and basketball. Earned All-WAC and All-State Football Team honors, as well as All-County and All-WAC Basketball Team honors. Specializes in punting, extra points, field goals, and kick off. Kicked 43 yard field goal in State Class A Playoffs.
Great Moments in Alabama High School Football History
Luverne 'Toad' Wise was the first female football player in Alabama and may have been the first in the country. She was a kicker for the Escambia County Blue Devils in 1939-40.
