            Cooley played center (offence) and defensive end during the 4 years he lettered on the varsity team. He was awarded All-County, All-District 11th grade, All-County, 2nd team All-State, 12th grade.

The Super 6 State Championships began in 1996. Since then all title games were played at Legion Field in Birmingham until 2009.
