            Played quarterback on varsity team for 4 years and was captain. Earned All-County (junior & senior yr.), All-Region, Most Outstanding Offensive Player, Most Outstanding Defensive Player, Honorable Mention as quarterback in All-State. 87 passes attempted - 47 completed: for 636 yards; rushed 103 times for 425 yards, punted 40 times for 1,584 yards - 39.6 average.

In 1970 Monroe Academy won the first championship in the A.I.S.A. by defeating Lowndes Academy 6-0.
