As a senior, Ogilvie led Mountain Brook to the Class 6A state championship. His numbers were good enough to set the single season rushing record for the state. In the state title game he rushed for 339 yards. Was running back on varsity for 4 years and was captain. Earned All-State, All-American, All-Independent, Most Valuable Player, Adidas All-American, Joe Namaths All-American, American Popular Sports All-American, Super All-State, "Player of the Year" by Quarterback Club of Birmingham, Touchdown Club, and Kiwanis Club. Had 2,504 yards rushing for 1976 averaging 9.3 yards per carry.
