Williams was named to the Gatorade Circle of Champions All-American Team as Alabamas Player of the Year. He rushed for over 1,700 yards as a junior and 1,144 as a senior while being hampered by a sore knee he injured in the 1987 state championship game in Birmingham. In his four year career, Williams amassed 5,059 yards rushing and scored 54 touchdowns.
