Steve completed 246 of 392 passes for 3,586 yards with 42 touchdowns and ran for 741 yards as a senior at Anniston. He also set a state record with 4,327 yards of total offense. He led the Bulldogs to the Class 6A state championship by throwing the football at a time when most teams were content to use a power running attack on offense. He set single game state records by tossing seven touchdowns passing one game and six in the first half of another. Steve would finish his career with 5,358 yards passing and 6,974 yards of total offense.
Great Moments in Alabama High School Football History
In 1925 Langdale tied a record by defeating Milltown 125-0. Hamilton had set the record by thrashing Fayette 125-0 in 1915.
