Toderick caught 145 passes for 3,101 yards and scored 30 touchdowns in his three years at Etowah. As a senior he caught 47 passes for 950 yards and six touchdowns. As a junior he caught 45 passes for 1,069 yards and scored 13 touchdowns. As a sophomore he caught 54 passes for 1,129 yards and 10 touchdowns. His career receiving yards were a state record at the time.

The first night game played between high school teams in the state occurred on September 23, 1927 when Pike Road and Cloverdale met in the Cramton Bowl in Montgomery.
